Description

Matt Carter begins the interview by recalling his childhood in Pike County, Kentucky and the loss of his homeplace when a roadway was widened by the state. He remembers his family's connections to the region and its musical traditions. The majority of his interview explores his path to Appalshop through an interest in punk rock music, and how he has come to work there to promote traditional music and to share his passion for rock, records, and Appalachian cultural expression.
