Description
Julien Nitzberg, former Appalshop, Inc. intern and the maker of "The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia", discusses growing up as a Jew in the Bronx in New York City, New York as well as his unintentional rebellion against many social and political norms. He tells stories about finding Appalshop, Inc., making the documentary "The Wild World of Hasil Adkins", and discovering the White family through Adkins. He talks about the consequences of his desire to film and produce a documentary about Jesco White, as well as how the film about Jesco eventually ended up getting made by a friend. "The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia" is discussed in a post-Appalshop, Inc. conversation and some constructive criticism towards Appalshop, Inc. is given.
