Description

In this second interview with Jack Wright he continues his discussion of his role as an MP during the Vietnam War. He discusses both positive and negative aspects of his time in Vietnam, including his experiences with music as well as an incident in which a Vietnamese prisoner was killed. He talks about visiting Hollywood upon his return to the U.S. and his many interesting experiences during that time. He talks about returning to Virginia and attending Clinch Valley College where he joined the anti-war movement, learned about other social issues, and started several folk music festivals including the Appalachian Folk Festival and the Dock Boggs Memorial Music Festival. He discusses his work with many aspects of Appalshop including June Appal Recordings, Roadside Theater, the "Headwaters" television show, WMMT radio, and various films. He talks about the difficulty of securing funding for Appalshop, disagreements between Appalshop and the outside world, and his reasons for leaving Appalshop.
