Partial Transcript: --introduce you. This is Noel Chrisman, interviewed by Liz Strober and it is January 4th, 2002, already.

Segment Synopsis: Chrisman discusses how he was introduced to anthropology while he was a sophomore in college. He says that he took an anthropology class and became very interested in the field. He describes how physical anthropology was his favorite part of anthropology, rather than ethnography. He tells of how he tried out sociology but did not like very much of it.

Segment Synopsis: Chrisman discusses his time in graduate school and his interests in anthropology. He says that he was very interested in cultural and social anthropology. He describes his graduate dissertation and his interest in applied anthropology. He also discusses the biases of the field of anthropology against applied anthropology. He tells of his first teaching job as a teacher of applied anthropology.

Segment Synopsis: Chrisman says that he hopes that his students learn to think "outside the box" and approach problems in unconventional ways. He also discusses what his students go on to do in their fields, including his PhD students.
