Segment Synopsis: In this segment, Phelps briefly discusses how he came to meet Sara Holroyd; the first time being the summer between his junior and senior years of high school. Phelps only attended the University of Kentucky for two years, but he stayed connected to members in the program. He says he has carried Holroyd's teachings throughout his life.

Partial Transcript: Tell me what you remember in terms of how you felt and what it was like being a part of that experience.

Segment Synopsis: In this segment, Phelps talks about Holroyd's teaching style and overall personality. He says that Holroyd was someone who cared deeply about her students, but that she was also a very driven individual, so she would often give the students feedback on their work. Phelps recalls that every bit of her feedback to students was constructive and necessary, but that she would also be sure to apologize anytime she felt like she could have worded something better. He carries her method of interaction with him in his career as a minister.

Segment Synopsis: In this section, Phelps discusses the lasting impact that his performances at Shaker Village left on him. He noted, especially, the Shaker hymn "Simple Gifts" and how his love of that song got him in touch with Collins. In turn, Collins led him to his performance at Holroyd's tribute concert.

Segment Synopsis: In this segment, Phelps discusses his life now as a minister; he mentions using his love of music within the church's services. He feels like the church is at its best when it is singing together. Phelps also recounts his experience of having his guitars stolen during a break in and how that led him to his current, most prized guitar which he has named after Sara Holroyd.

Partial Transcript: Dean, um, on the Shaker video, you stand out because you really look the part.

Segment Synopsis: Phelps closes out his interview by reflecting on some of his fellow classmates who have since passed on. He reiterates the camaraderie of the Chorister alumnae and what wonderful people his classmates are and were. To close out the segment, Phelps performs the Shaker hymnal "Simple Gifts," which was mentioned earlier in the interview as being the song that left the greatest impression on Phelps and led him to the performance concert for Holroyd.
