Description
In this interview Joe Bussman discusses his upbringing and experiences during the Vietnam War. Bussman was born in 1944. He grew up poor in Pennsylvania. His initial stint in the navy was two years of active duty and four years in the reserve. It began in 1962. He went on active duty in 1963. He served aboard the USS Valley Forge as a "personnel man." His duties were mostly office work such as typing and administering tests. He played on the ship's basketball team. He returned to civilian life briefly and then back to the Navy in 1970. His later service was classified. He fully retired in 1995. During his later service he also worked as a computer programmer.
