We'd like to thank all the Jewish institutions which have partnered with UK Special Collections and Research Center to make their primary materials available to the public and UK Students: Jewish Federation of the Bluegrass, Temple Adath Israel Lexington, Ohavay Zion Synagogue. We'd also like to thank community members who have generously shared materials from their own private collections. We especially want to thank Douglas A. Boyd, Kopana Terry, and Danielle Gabbard at the Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History, and Sarah Dorpinghaus at UK Special Collections for making it possible for students to have access to the original oral histories and primary materials for course purposes, and to make the oral histories and primary materials students and community members share available to the public. Without their tremendous hard work and passion for the project, it would not be possible. We'd also like to thank all the students who have contributed materials to the site to date. We are incredibly grateful to the generous funding from the Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence, which supported the project's stage 1 development and collection and transcription of 119 interviews.
Through their work in WRD 401: Composing Oral History or through independent initiatives of their own, students have used UK Special Collections and Library Resources to discover, digitize, and provide metadata for a variety of relevant primary materials which can be browsed and searched in the "Items." Students in WRD 401 have created theme-based exhibits, many of which provide course materials aimed at high school teachers who wish to use interviews from the Jewish Kentucky Oral History Project in their classrooms. We are tremendously grateful for their intellectual curiosity and willingness to build this resource. We recognize them by name below.
