Description

Nhu Nguyen discusses her upbringing in Vietnam and her experiences during the Vietnam War. Nguyen was born in Hanoi in 1945. She moved to Saigon in 1954 to escape the communist takeover. She lived in a refugee camp on the outskirts of Saigon that eventually was built into a small town. After she graduated high school, Nguyen married a member of the ARVN who flew Hueys. In early 1968 they settled in Hue city and a couple of weeks later the Tet offensive began. After Tet, they moved to Danang air base and later to Bien Hoa. They escaped Vietnam in April of 1975 and moved to Exton, PA after a couple of stops in refugee camps.
